POP Airport-Sosua ...taxi &motoconcho fares

Anyone know the prices after dark for a taxi or motoconcho from POP airport to Sosua or to Puerto Plata? Also the cost of a cheap hotel overnight in Sosua?And what time Caribe tours leaves from Sosua for Samana in the morning...7am?

Taxi normal fare: RD$200.00. People have negotiated RD$150.00. I'm not sure there are Moto Conchos working out of the airport. Also depending what time you arrive and don't mind a short walk to the main highway, you can catch a publico there for around RD$20.00. As for a room, you could check out Rocky's bar, he sometimes has something around US$15.00. Caribe Tour, I beleive Another Gringo was correct 07:30AM ONLY 1 per day.

The info on taxi fare and Caribe Tour departure time is correct. Be aware that sometimes Caribe Tour doesn't run this bus. It doesn't have a lot of passengers, so Caribe Tour don't seem to worry too much if a bus isn't available to make this trip.

There is an alternative to Caribe Tour that I generally use. It is a very reliable bus that runs 7 days a week and is operated by an Sr. Salvador of Puerto Plata. This bus leaves Puerto Plata about 6:30am and reaches the light on the Caribe Tour corner about 7 am. There is no ticket office, you flag down the bus as it passes. The price to samana is RD$70. I generally wait for the bus in front of the supermarket on the highway in Sosua, and make it a point to be there waiting a little before 7am. But you can catch it anywhere along the highway. The bus has a sign in the window that says Samana or Puerto Plata, depending on whether he has remembered to turn it around. It follows same route as Caribe Tour, except it doesn't stop in Nagua at a terminal. It drops you off wherever you want to be dropped off along the route, or takes you all the way to Samana, arriving about 10:15. It returns to Puerto Plata from Samana at 2pm sharp. I take this bus a couple of times a month and can recommend it without hesitation.

I should have mentioned in previous message that the bus to Samana is maroon/burgandy in color with white trim. If you see a bus of this color, look for sign in the window. On return trip, bus passes through Sosua about 5:15pm.

Dude - Take a taxi from the airport to Sosua. It's only RD150 and if you're from DR you can probably get it for 100. Rocky's is the cheapest place to spend a night in sosua. You can probably stay the night for RD 150-200. the adress is 22 Calle Dr. Rosen.
