Default Cabarete

My husband & I are blindly traveling to the "Sun & Surf" an all inclusive hotel in Cabarete. I have found a very limited amount of info on it but would love to hear from someone who has recently stayed here. Also any advise for our trip would be appreciated. We will be there the week of Feb 10-17.
Thanks in advance!!

Hi,
I am sure you will have a fine trip - Cabarete is just wonderful. Very laid back atmosphere and the Sun&Surf is located in the middle of everything. I guess the rooms are ok but I am not sure about the food. You just have to cross the street and then you are at the beautiful beach. Cabarete tourists are mostly young or young-in-mind people, surfers and folks that like it casual. So don't go for big ass dressing up for the night. There are several bars directly at the beach where you can even listen to live music, techno/house, tribal music and of course to merengue and bachata.
In Cabarete you can visit the caves and you should definitely book a Jeep safari at a local travel agency-they are much cheaper than the big ones and make sure that you travel in small groups and get lots of nice impressions from the countryside. One week is not really much but if you want to see something really beautiful and amazing, go to Samana. There you find lonely beaches and you can even watch the whales that come there in February/March. However, lots of boat tours for tourists have disturbed the whales so it would be cool to stay at the beach and just watch them from a distance to make sure they will be there for the next years also.
If you are into cultural things, Santo Domingo might be something worth visiting with its Colonial Zone. Guess that's enough for just a week since cabarete itself is so nice that you will love it there so much.
have a wonderful vacation

Do not stay there at all costs. I just returned feb 1st and it was a BIG BIG problem. I have stayed there many times in the past and is a o.k. resort for it's cheap price. I arrived on sunday with a written conformation from norman umberg stating my stay and of course paid a deposit. The hotel did not honer it and sent us down the beach to surfside beach resort a much less desireable hotel. I spent two hours looking for a other hotel and I suggest you do the same. I stayed at hotel Koaba in town it will do the trick and much cheaper. I hope this is helpful to you. If more info is needed let me know.
