Default Help.looking for a private american school

Hello, I will be moving to D.R. in a few weeks. I have a nine year old son who will need to attend a private american school.
WE will be living in La Vega, so if anyone knows of a good school
either in La Vega or Santiago please let me know. My son does not speak Spanish which is why he needs to enroll in an american school. Thanks for the help.

I believe there is one called American Christian School and it is located in Santiago. I do not know how good they are but it's made up of mostly foreign students who probably are in the same situation as your child.

Default Here is some help->

Santiago Christian School (Bible thumpers but nice folk)Area code 809-
582-0447
581 4333
581 4391

I believe that they are certified by the Southern Association, and most of the teachers are US missionary folks, well prepared to teach.

You had better call very quickly, since their classes limited
in size and all the "nicest" folk here send their kids there.
If you are a kindred spirit, ie. Missionary-type, you ill probably get a break on the tuition, but that is a guess.

Good Luck,

HB

For other possible options call Escuela Caribe 574 2760, they might be able to give you any info you need about american schools in the D.R.

Many of the wealthier folks living along the south coast send their kids to Villas del Mar International School in Juan Dolio. It is an English speaking school, but Spanish is also spoken to aid those that only speak Spanish in learning English.

In Santo Domingo, they send their kids to Instituto Cultural Dominico-Americano (http://www.worldwide.edu/ci/dominican_republic/schools/15961.html).

For lot of school links, see www.BocaChicaBeach.net/links.html and see the SCHOOLS category.

thank you for the information. I will look into that school, I have a christian background and am well grounded spiritually so
having my child in a christian school where the bible is taught
is no problem with me. I just hope it's not that far from LaVega
I will call them right away. Thanks again

There is the La Vega Christian School. It is taught for Dominican children, but the people in charge are American and there are English classes. Most of the kids are the wealthier children that can speak fairly good English. I lived in La Vega for a while and taught at the school for a summer. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm a little less familiar with Santiago, but I can try and help.
