Default Cab Fares

Anyone know the cab fare from Puerto Plata airport to Santiago? I rather take a cab than a bus for that one way trip.

I think I paid DR$1,500 for the whole day, both ways in January, for a mini van (11 people). This should give you some reference point.

I have made the trip from POP to Santiago many times. Given the two alternatives you have raised, it is far far far less expensive to take the bus.

Santiago to the Airport but let me check....Yup, they will charge you RD$500 to go and pick you up..
Send me an e-mail with time and date of arrival and I will make sure there is a cab waiting for you with a big sign, np..

Last April paid $400 pesos POP to Santiago, with the higher fuel costs it's probably more now.

Default As a matter of fact

Hey Rick: I called them as I was writing that thing yesterday and they gave me a price of RD$500 to pick up. Then last night I asked about a minivan to pick up some people and they told me RD$700...but they also told me that a taxi was RD$600! So this morning I called again to make reservations, and got the RD$600 for a taxi and RD$700 for a minibus/van to pick up at POP and bring back to Santiago...for 4 guys it is a very good deal, imo.
Gas is up and down-propane, used by a lot of taxis is now heavily subsidised by the government. And gasoline is now in the 40s...(*>(
