Results of Eighth and Final Stage

The Venezuelan, Manuel Guevara, of the Lottery of Táchira team won the Eighth and final stage of the Independence Tour of the DR.
In doing so, he also won the Overall Champion's Cup.

Guevara won the Santiago -Santo Domingo (173 kms) in 3:20:13.
He was followed by Irvin Aguilar of Mexico; Heiro Szonn of Germany's Peugot Berlin team; and Guillermo Chaparra of Club Mauricio Baez of Santo Domingo.

The final Overall standings were: Guevara; Szonn; Chaparro; Chacon (Ven); Aguilar; Delgado (Ven).

Team standings were also juggled the last day. Venezuela won; Mauricio Baez was second; Germany was third and ALICO was fourth.

Guevara, in his comments on the race, mentioned the need to better the road conditions and the food, but in general was content with the victory.

On a UK cycling news today they have recorded the top 10 riders and Andrew finished in 7th place which is absolutely fantastic considering his age 21 against some full time professional riders so we are very pleased and his team Alico came 4th as you said.Usually there is a prize for the best U23 rider in these International events so as far as I know Andrew may have won this also.
