Default Fishing in the puerto Plata area

I am trying to find out if there are any tarpon, bonefish, permit or snook in the area around Puerto Plata. I am also looking for the names and phone numbers of any guides in that area; either offshore, river fishing or inshore.

The fishing info in DR is very minimal. I have checked in the archives and only came up with a few names of people requesting fishing info, all never got a good answer. Knowing the N. Coast, you will be lucky to find Bone Fish etc because of the winds and the lack of lagoons/grassflats. There is likely some Tarpon, Permit, and Snook fishing around but you must find a local guide to take you into the mangroves/rivermouths. Perhaps your best bet is to go to the Barahona area in search of bone fish.
Tight lines,

Joey

Best fishing in the area is South West on the island in the Mona Passage. Big blues, lots of wahoo and dolphin and some sails and whites. Must run almost to P. R, No luck here. Simply great fishing

Mona passage can be very rough at times. Please check with me about fishing out of Monte Cristi area. It usually very calm with excellent offshore trolling. There is also lots of mangroves and rivers that dump into this area.
