Southwest coast south of Barahona

We are going to DR in a couple of weeks and want to visit the southern part of the country. We are on a tight budget. Does anyone know of cheap places to stay on the coast south of Barahono, in San Rafael, Paraiso, Ojeda or any small place with very little turists but nice nature and good places to swim?

What does mean cheap to you? Prices in Baharona are about RD$ 300 for low quality hotels (approx. 18 USD), but for the double price you get nice, clean rooms! Further on south on the road you will have to ask there as a couple of new places have been constructed due to the governments efforts to get the turism down to the south (they even have a Intl. Airport, which still does not function!)

But for cheaper possibilities you will always find some private persons to host you for RD$ 100.-, but you may also have a lack of security, if you do not speak fluently spanish and/or do not know the habits of the Caribbean!

So you see, it is finally up to you what you are after and how you like to spend your vacation here (but I agree the south is a very nice and interesting corner of the country!)
