Default Need Apt/House -Moving to Boca Chica area

I will be moving to the Boca Chica area and will need to rent a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment or house. What is a reasonable price for a decent place? Can you suggest an area or complex? Any information you can give me on how to find a nice apartment or house will be greatly appreciated.

Furnished or unfurnished? How long do you want to rent for as that will drastically affect the price (2 months vs. 1 year or more). Unfurnished 2 bedrooms with a 1 year lease are RD$2,000-11,000/month. Notice the big range? That's because there is a big range in locations within Boca Chica, a big range in size, and a big range in quality. The low end with get you a pretty small place in the middle of Los Coquitos. The high end will get you a 2 bedroom, 1000 sq.ft. apartment at Kasitas del Sol (see www.BocaChicaBeach.net for photos on the hotels page).

Expect to pay more if you need the place furnished or try to rent for less than 1 year. Also, security deposits of 3 months and rent for 6 months up front are typical terms. Don't forget to budget for the electric and water bills, and you may or may not be able to arrange for phone service during your time there.

If you go unfurnished, you will have to supply most everything. One renter I know had to buy the following: washer, fridge, stove, microwave, ceiling fans, air conditioners, hot water heater, water tank, furniture, TV's and stereo, planta (generator), paint, some plumbing fixtures, screens, locks, 220 lines (for air conditioners), and propane tank (for stove). Much of the above required profesional installation as well.
