Default Royal Resort

I am trying to decide between Paradisus or Royal Resort Uvero Alto. Any info on either of these hotels would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Donna,

Scroll down to the threads below regarding the Royal Resort and check out the reviews at debbiesdominicantravel. We were booked at Royal Resort and changed our reservation today to the Paradisus and it was $600 cheaper! I spoke to 2 people who were at Paradisus recently and based on what is important to us we switched hotels. There was only 1 negative thing about the Paradisus: the language barrier (which I believe can be a problem in any foreign country) if you don't speak the language). The service was 6 star, the food was excellent, some of the staff speak english and there was no fumigating. My travel agent told me today that the reason they fumigate at the Royal is because they are still building and it dredges up all the insects.

Depending what you are looking for in a vacation depends on which hotel you should chose. Good luck!

Default Re: Royal Resort

We stayed at RUA from 2-28 thru 3-7; I have posted a response on Debbie's Web Site. It is so interesting to see the varied responses and prices paid. We were originally booked into Paradisus and I changed our reservation to RUA. We paid a lot less at RUA than Paradisus. Switched our reservations to RUA because the resort sounded much more upscale. The hotel itself is lovely, but the letdown is in the food I was satisfied with RUA especially for whast we paid and in comparison to other resorts in the Carribean ie. Antigua...Sandals...RUA was much
nicer and a lot less money.... we like a great beach like Smugglers in Tortola or the beaches of Anguilla. The beach is great at RUA, the room was great...we had two patios with an indoor and outside jacuzzi, the staff is great. Food was just ok, beach was fantastic, staff had an excellent attitude. They just need to really upgrade their food. We have been all over the Carribean and I would say that this resort is much like the The Royal Hideaway in Playa del Carmen.....no place is perfect..beach is better at RUA...food is better at Royal Hideaway. Last year's winter vacation was to St. Kitts; food was about the same in St. Kitts, but everything else was 10X better at RUA for a lot less money. Would be glad to answer any questions.
Warm regards,
Pat
