9 day trip. To do?

Leaving this Friday for my first trip to the DR. Am a teacher and am a bit burnt out from the little "angels" I have this year. I was originally looking for just a hanging out trip, However, as it gets closer, I am thinking I should be much more adventurous. I speak Spanish and am an experience backpacker. Money is an issue as I don't want to spend over 30/nt for hotel and I also don't want to be on a bus all the time. will check out SDQ for a couple or more days and then it is up in the air. Boca Chica is close - what about Juan Dolio, Las Terranas, Santiago etc.

suggestions would be apprecitated. Hotel, places to see, and to visit. Single male traveller looking to relax, see and interact with the culture and of coure have FUN. Gracias a todo. Patrick
