Default October in Dominican

My boyfriend and I are going to the Dominican Republic in October for two weeks. We are staying in Juan Dolio and are staying at the Costa Coral.
Has any one stayed there?? If so I'd love to hear your feedback.

Also, I have been told that October is the hurricane season, has anyone ever experienced thi??

I look forward to hearing from anyone with any info or advise.

Annette

Check out reviews at the provided link under Costa Coral Caribe.
Been there a very nice 3 star hotel. Be sure and get out and experience the DR, visit the village and see the sights.

I wouldn't worry about a hurricane, but it is very hot and humid at that time of the year.

I was there last year in the first week of Oct. and had sun every day! It rained some at night, but that was welcomed. I'm coming in Sept for 2 weeks and can't wait!

Default Weather

I was there in 1998 when Hurricane George happened, it was during the week of September 20 - 27. We stayed on the north coast, in Sosua, and were not hit at all. They said in Sosua, the last hurricane hit in 1979, almost 20 years previous. This hurricane, although it devastated many parts of the island, only ruined 2 days of our vacation. If something like this happens on the islands, the tourists are 100% safer than the locals. Your hotel will provide you with every measure of security they can, so even if there is a hurricane, you shouldn't have too many worries. Have a great time, you will love the country.

Default Oct in the DR

October is a rainy month. It tend to rain a lot. I was there the first week of Oct in 1999 and mid Oct 2000 at the Costa Caribe. We had 1 hurrican warning in 1999. When it rains, you lose out on all the Hotel's activities. I would reccommend that you go more into Novemeber. The Hotel is beautiful. The staff is wonderful. YOu'll enjoy it there.

Thanks for all your replys!!

Jewels, Did it rain all the time or only occasionally??? I'm abit worried now as opur holiday cost a foirtune and I dont want it ruined by it raining evry day. I dont mind if it rains on a night but on a day would make it a waste of time really. When you got the hurricane warning, did you get a hurricane???

Thanks

Annette
