Default Tip of the Day from Frommers...

Wednesday, April 4, 2001
The least expensive island for tourism in all the Caribbean is the Dominican Republic, and that island has suddenly acquired a new and quite compelling resort area. It’s at a beach called Bayahibe, near La Romana, where suddenly, five brand new resorts have emerged with top facilities but low prices. They include a fully first class, 500-room hotel called the Casa del Mar, and this winter, a tour operator called Tourscan will send you there for an all inclusive week of air fare, room, meals, drinks, sports and entertainment, for a total of $1129 from a great many cities in the U.S. For a place of that quality, that price is one of travel’s best current bargains. Call Tourscan at 800/962-2080.

Actually, if you read this board at all, Sarah is quite knowledgable about the Dominican Republic. She has spent a lot of time volunteering in the Barahona area, and I highly doubt she posted this for personal gain. Rather, she was promoting the country she loves.

Default Amen, Trina!

Thanks for backing me up...I should have known it would be necessary to add a disclaimer, eh? A friend actually sent me the link to the website today and in checking it out for the first time, I noticed the info on the hotel mentioned was one someone on the board had recently asked about. Since my DR travels do not extend beyond the south coast, I cannot personally recommend the hotel/area, but thought it looked like a pretty good deal.

To be more precise, though hardly needed, I believe Sarah wished to note she has been primarily to the SOUTHWEST and not what is typically referred to as the SouthEast Coast (La Romana).

Are we getting this desperate for arguments?

tom, given that there are a large number of messages each week here from people seeking information because they have no knowledge of DR geograpy, then precisenes is clearly needed.
desperate? not me.

Default coolsarah don't do spam.....I am the nasty one

Actually, I can see where you might get the impression that Sarah is doing a commercial post, but really she isn't. She has posted as information on a good deal, like the lo=price airline tickets I see here all the time.

BTW! DID you all see where someone has offered $120,000,000 for Playa Grande? I told you it was a great place!!

Woah! How ignorant of moi! To be precise, I did indeed wish to note that I am familiar with the southWEST coast ONLY - to be even more exact, from Boca Chica on the east and Pedernales on the west. Who knew that what to me was a simple "here's a good deal, check it out" post would cause such a stir...
