importing a car

hello--can anyone tell me how much tax the Dominican Republic govt. charges to import a 1996 ford explorer 63000 miles...value approx. $11,000 u.s. thanks

buy it there,I just paid 76,000 pesos tax for a 1996 geo tracker thats only worth about 5,500 US ........jim

I was under the assumption, when getting residency and moving belongings to DR, there was (is) a great break on import taxes. Was I mislead??????? Jim
