what to do in Punta Cana?? staying at bavaro Beach

My g/f and I have booked a 7 night trip to Punta cana and staying at the Bavaro Beach Resort. I'm having trouble finding info out about the area around the hotel. I was wondering what there is to do besides staying at the resort. What kind of tours there are. Thanks

Not anything I have ever done. I've been there 5 times. Just a trip to the Basilica in higuey and a trip to Altos de Chavon by public bus. The other tours are very expensive and in my opinion not worth it. Enjoy your trip.

From punta cana,you can't visit many things because you are far of every thing...One thing you must see is Samana or the Saona and Catalina islands.It's too beautiful...but maybe a little expensive from Punta Cana.

Hope the third response makes up your mind to stay at the resort. Punta Cana is just to far away from anything. It is a almost a three hour bus ride to Saona and Catalina islands.
About the only thing close by is the Sea World type attraction.
Enjoy the resort and do all that is offered there, which I am sure is plenty. We stayed at Iberostar Bavaro and never lacked for something to do.

I love Bavaro Beach Resort, I have been there 3 years in a row. You won't need to leave the resort. It it a huge resort, it has a golf course,and also a mini golf. It has a casino, and ranch, 2 disco's , lots of nitely entertainment. Deep sea fishing , all the water sports you could dream of........food is great.. beach is excellent. You will love it....enjoy!!!!!

We're also going in just two weeks time...can't wait. The nearest trip for you is Manati Park. This is a wildlife park which has all sorts of birds and animals, also a Taino Indian village with small thatched roof hut museum and there is a display of their dancing (well there was last year). You can also swim with the dolphins there which was a great experience.

There is also a tour that takes you into the surrounding countryside and you visit a Dominican home. The trip to Altos de Chavon is also worthwhile as the scenery is magnificent. We've been on the trip to Saona Island twice but both times we were stationed at Bayahibe so it was on our doorstep so to speak. We won't therefore be doing the trip this year as we don't particularly fancy the long coach ride to the boats and back. Hope this helps.
