vet student seeks animal work experience

Hi,
I am a second year veterinary student from England planning to travel in the Dominican Republic this summer. If possible I would like to combine the trip with some of the work experience I must do for my course. This involves at least 2 weeks working with horses and at least 1 week working with a vet or in a wildlife sanctuary or similar. I don't know if any of this would be possible but if anyone has any ideas or contacts I could try I would be really grateful
