Occidental El Embjador in Santo Domingo?

I am looking for feedback on peoples stay at the El Embjador in Santo Domingo please? I haven't been able to locate any on a few of the web pages for travel to the DR yet. I appreciate any info.

It's a very nice hotel close to the park mirador del sur (I think our longest park anyway!), big and lots of service! But to get to town you need a cap! (Some hotels have a shuttle service, but I have no idea for the Embajador!)

The El Embajador is a great hotel. My wife and I have
stayed there several times. We think it's terrific. Has a
casino. Fantastic lobby, great buffet breakfast and a
business center if you need it. Rooms are very nice.
I would highly recommend it to you.

I will never stay at this hotel. Yes, it does have a nice lobby & pool but that's about it. The service/staff was horrible. The people were really rude. The room was uncomfortable; twin beds! They need to stop spending so much money on remodeling the exterior and start putting that money towards the rooms. It's also a bit out of the way. I recommend you stay elsewhere. I don't know what the deal is w/the Hispaniola since it turned hands but that's always been my fav. place to stay in Sto. Domingo. Good luck and safe travels.

The Embjador is a very "nice" hotel, but definetly caters to the business traveler. It is not the hotel I would book if I were on vacation.

If you want to stay in the "City," the Hispaniola has always been my favorite, at least "as nice" as the Embjador but with a much friendlier Casino and disco.

Wow, Im really surprised at your reply Susan. My experience
has been nothing but great. Most all of the hotel staff members
remember us immediately and bend over backwards to take care
of everything. I have never had any sort of a rude experience.
In fact it's quite the opposite. Perhaps you need to give it
another chance. Obviously you had a bad experience.
