Default Hotel in or near San Cristobal...

I'm looking for a low-cost hotel in San Cristobal, nothing fancy, just a place to stay. Any suggestions for low-cost hotels in Santo Domingo would also be appreciated. Preferably under $40/night. If you know the rates, please post them also. Thanks!

I dont think there are any. Even the Hotel San Cristobal is not really a hotel any longer. You might want to try Palenque Beach or Najayo Beach which are close by.

There is a hotel run by a Swiss in Palenque. I believe it is the Hotel Palenque. It has a pool and they have a very good restaurant (have eaten there). This would be a good place to stay. There is a sign on the main highway pointing to the way to get to this hotel. It should be easy to find asking for the hotel owned by a "suizo" once you get to Palenque. I looked it up in the phone book, but couldn't find it for you.

I am shure there are hotels in San Christobal, but in rather local atmosphere and confort, but of curse also cheap - I guess you would have to go there and ask arround and check the facilities (always check if there is light and water! - and look into the bathroom!) To my opinion, if you want to go to Palenque it is OK and nice, but very far off (it's close to Bani!), so it might be even better staying in Santo Domingo, there is a nice small place close to the Malecom at a parc just up the obelisc called El Senorial with prices very reasonable! (about 22.- US a night if it is still correct!)

Here the dates: Pte. Vicini Burgos # 58

See u' here!

Justin,
There is a hotel NAJAHO on the main road. It was built about 4-5 years ago and has a resturant, bar etc., right on the beach. Can't miss it. Don't know the name but its there.
Enjoy, Jim.

Cabaña: pronounced "v" - Motel like rooms. Several along highways and near cities. They are used mostly for casual "xxx" encounters.
