Actually, that "Arc" person does post on the Hispaniola.com site where she is much loved and respected (not). One of her last posts stated that she was going to the DR for a few months on a "mission" and work with her husband. Now, if we want to subscribe to conspirary theories.....could it be???

On another note, I personally believe that there are more effective ways of protesting in modern, democratic, states than what carol views as a powerful tool. Her method evokes powerful emotions but more often than not will result in the further entrenchment of all parties involved. For example, I believe the Haitian who burned the flag was immediately deported by Dominican officials. Nonviolent boycotts, petitions, marches, strikes, and rallies are just as effective as violent confrontation in 95% of the cases. In the other 5% of the cases the circumstances may be so bad that negotiation is impossible anyway (there are times that violent protests have resulted in positive change. History records such events as successes ...various wars of independence against colonial powers throughout the world and history).
