Default Hey, we do have a better President than the US!!

He just declared a law that power cutoffs are forbidden for the distributors under any circumstances (rare exepcions allowed only!) - did or could they do that in California!!!!

What an insight! Does this mean we do not have to pay the electricity anymore and still can recieve it!!!??? LOL

All to the better!

The major difference is that California legislators decided not to build more power plants because of all the enviromentalists. In the D.R., im sure no one would have objected.....i feel no sympathy for California. Nor should i have to bail them out of their power crunch....buy some candles

California has had a cap of power rates for years and look what it got them. Had they been paying fair market value all along they wouldn't be in such a jam. As for Hipolito being a better president, he couldn't carry Bush's jock strap!

The reason why power plants were not being being built in California in early and mid nineties was because of degregulation. Investers waited until the dust settled and soon after that the number of plants proposed and planned returned to normal growth. Don't blame it on the environmentalists.

Default Re: What happened to the Iceberg for LA?

What about water in California. Anybody has any ideas where and when are they going to find water there? What happened to the Giant Iceberg Plan of bringing it from Antarctica to water California? Or was that a CHRISTO sculpture?

Now there is a good plan from Bush, go kill all those stupid moose from Alaska and bring us a tricle of oil that will last for two weeks. After two weeks, we will figure something else for California. Maybe Rollerskate power?

How come Clinton didnt have blackouts?

Yes Hipolito is Moe, but from looking at how George Bush walks he may need that jockstrap. In fact Hipolito and him make a good couple. Larry and Moe.

Default Re: Who is scared? What investors?

The investor scare is nothing more than cheap political extortion by the big powers. Investors are going crazy over DR. We are not looking for investors. They are looking for us. Hey buddy, it is a sellers market here.

Everybody and their mother want to invest here because investors only understand profits and this little island should be called "Profit Island". Are you sorry for those Spanish thieves from Union Fenosa or VENENOSA? Spain doesnt even want them there. They are in court over bad electric meters in Spain.

How come foreign banks are buying our banks and our bank stock? How come they even want to buy our Central Bank and Banco de Reservas? Have you seen the Citibank Tower?Dont kid yourself, local money is now sufficient to keep this economy going. In fact, there is so much money that even interest rates are falling.

Of course, dont thank Hipolito and Leonel. This is all happening in spite of them. Is anybody so blind as to not to see the more than 200 apartment towers going on simultaneously in the main part of Santo Domingo? What cities in the world can you cite that have that much construction growth? There are just 3 towers in construction in front of my window right now. Asking price? Prices from US$100,000 to US$750,000. Who the hell do you think is buying all that? One tower is sold out without the windows being placed yet. Another one with 10 floors is 80% sold, but 30% built!
