Where would you rather go?

If you were asked to choose between spending a weekend at Puerto Plata Estrella Marina Cabarete(I am not sure of the name) (RD$1,800.00) or Bavaro Prince in Bavaro (RD$2,800.00), wich one would you choose?

Cabarete is a great place. You will have contact with the locals. Great scenery. Rivers, mountains and the windsurfing beach. Go for it.

If your main concern is with the quality of the resort, the beauty of the beach and pool, and just to relax in the tropical sun, the Bavaro Princess wins hands down. There is no comparing the two properties. However, there is little to do outside of the resort besides tours, gambling, and golf unless you are prepared to travel hours away.

If you care more about getting outside of the resort, mingling with the locals, sampling bars, restaurants, and shops in a town, select Cabarete.

From Cabarete, very easy to get public transportation to Sosua, only a few miles away, which makes an easy day trip. Puerto Plata also easy to get to, but requires a little more traveling on public transport (about 1/2 hour).

Cabarete for sure! It's a great little area.. quiet with a beautiful beach - great for wind surfing. Close to Sosua (more action & another beautiful beach)... then Puerto Plata (bigger city) about 1/2 hour away.
