Concerned about nudity on Punta Cana... Is it THAT prevalent?

My husband and I are planning a trip to Punta Cana to stay at one of their all-inclusive resorts in November. HOWEVER I had heard that modesty is not a BIG factor here. I guess I am wondering if any particular resorts there are better at avoiding this public display. Maybe someone knows. Also since we are in our mid-forties we would like to stay somewhere that the "spring break mentality type, singles run rampant, anything goes "crowd" is not so prevelant. We plan to go in November. Anyone's help would be so appreciated. I had heard that Punta Cana is a paradise but don't want it to be too shocking and public displays of nudity somewhat offend us. :}

I've never seen this anywhere in the Dominican Republic. I think you are confused with Cancun.

Someone is pulling your leg.

Nudity is not permitted. You will see some of the guests bathing topless.

I've seen some toplessness, but not complete nudity.

Why would this offend you?

You need to get out more.

Beach in Western Slobovia is fairly non-skin. In the tropics, toplessness is pretty normal----especially with European tourists that never see the sun and feel that an "all over" tan is best.

I hope I did not offend too many people with the title. I just wanted to emphasize the unusual nature of my reply...

About toplessness: I just gotta say this! In 1990, I had a total mastectomy and no reconstruction (no money!). I got a prosthesis but the darned thing is so heavy and hot, I dumped it and I go around with just one of 'em bobbin' around - and don't give a darn. I had to laugh - I (and Ed, too!!! god bless him) saw lots of topless chicks on the beach at Las Galeras. I figured, "Well if they can do it, I can too ..." and off came my big, loose t-shirt! If anyone ever needs a good way to attract attention and stares - do it my way!!!!!!!!!! Never had so much fun in my life. And, evidently, the natives don't know that breast cancer is a reality (they eat so healthy, don't smoke, don't drink!!) because their mouths dropped - and wouldn't close - when they saw me - and there I stood/sat/waded - laughing like crazy FOR ME!! That little adventure cured me of not liking to see "topless"!!!!!! Laugh with me -Mame-

I believe you may be thinking of a past message about Los Canas and nude sun bathing. However, I am sure that you could find a place on the beach to relax and not be offended. Enjoy your vacation.

Why on eart worry about topless Women ? And why do you worry about a crowd on springbreak, when you are traveling in november ?

At the popular beach at Boca Chica I have seen people running around naked. The oldest was probably about four years old and this is more the exception than the rule. You may find a few women sunbathing topless but when walking around virtually everyone is "decently" covered.
