Default crossing the border with a car...

Hi everybody, I have a friend in Cap-Haitien who owns a 4x4, with haitian license-plates. He wish to come to the DR thru Dajabon, and leave the vehicle at my place for a couple of months...
-What is the fee for crossing the border from Haiti to DR with such a vehicle ?
-Is there any time limit to keep that vehicle in the DR before sending it back to Haiti ?
Thanks for your insights, martin.

Default Be careful

There is no uniform policy governing this. Sure there are laws but the DR military governing this area make up the rules according to their financial needs. The DR military might have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed and who knows what can happen. It can range anywhere from super high taxes to confiscation of the vehicle for whatever reason. My family is from Mao and I've been there many times with my gramps. I wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah, once you cross the border to Haiti, you can feel free; nobody's going to try to rob you or anything.

After all, Haiti is such a nice place, no robbers, no holdups or drug traffic.

No, I don't mean crossing the border to Haiti, I mean crossing the border to Dr from Haiti... I just want to get a rough idea about the process, and I much I have to pay for it...

If you are a Dominican Citizen just pass thru the gate, they will ask you a few questions: ask you for money (they all do), and check the car for drugs or guns.
