Default Buying Real Estate In the DR

I am interested in buying land in the DR. I am looking for beachfront property for investment and possible development. I am open to any beach area in the DR. Any comments would be great.
E-mail me if you would like.

Thank you.

Don't do it until you get to know the area you want to live in AND get to know the responsible & trustworthy people in that area.

Live here for at LEAST six months before you go down the "Buying" route!! Rent, get to know the people & culture etc., because you may find you cannot live here!! Drop me an e-mail for fuller information, suggestions & people to talk to first! Grahame Bush.

Get yourself an honest lawyer. U.S. State Dept. info on the D.R. mentions that getting a "clear title" in the country has been a problem many times in the past for Americans and you could find your property being taken over by squatters or the government, because the title you thought you had, is not worth the paper it is written on.

Charlie is right. Nothing is more important than having a trustworthy lawyer, whether you are buying a condo for your self or a beach as an investment. Getting a lawyer should be your first step. Not just any lawyer, but one with a proven record of honesty and reliability.

Fabio Guzman is the lawyer that I recommend, at least for north coast real-estate matters. He is honest, has been in business a long time, and probably has more foreign clients than any two or three lawyers combined. He has offices in several locations, but he himself is mostly in the Sosua office. You can email him (guzman.ariza@codetel.net.do) (fguzman@drlawyer.com)or check his website
