very very sad story. someone needs help

A friend of mine has a big crisis and needs help. She was raped by one her uncles here in santiago. He has been dealt with already. But now it turns out that my friend is a month pregnant. She lives here in santiago, but most of her family including her parents live in another country. Does anyone know where in santiago she can go to have an abortion. she has no clue what to do but she obviosly cant have this baby. Can anyone help me witht his so that I can inform her. ASAP!!!!!

Let me just say that abortions are illegal in the Dominican Republic. Sounds like you and your friend have problems.

ECH,MD, this is a case where abortions should be legal if not mandatory, don't you think? Very sad story and that man....or he should not be called a man......that sad piece of skin...he should be strung up by his balls for about 2 weeks in the town square for ppl to punch him, spit on him, **** on him, whatever anyone pleases......and then shot. Catherine very sorry to hear of the situation, hope you are able to find some help. My prayers are with you and the young lady. Catherine maybe you can post this assholes name here so the rest of his sorry life will be as miserable as the public of Santiago and the rest of the D.R. can possibly make it!!!

I was sorry to hear about your friend, I can't offer you any help unfortunately but I just wanted to pass on my wishes to the fact that I hope you both manage to sort things out... Abortions may very well be illegal in the DR but they are performed every day of the week--thank God.
There are many doctors who are very sympathetic to your friend's situation---your friend will have no problem.

Jack is correct. Talk to a Doctor (The sooner the better) and explain the situation. I am quite sure that he will be able to solve the problem. Good Luck.

I am neither condoning nor condemning abortion; at least in a public forum. What I was stating is that it is ILLEGAL in the Dominican Republic. Sure, there are thousands performed weekly, HOWEVER, in a very clandestine manner and THAT is what makes it dangerous for the patient and the physician (or whoever does the abortion)

I believe that while it is a LAW which makes abortions illegal, in the case of rape, it should and must be made legal!!! Laws are not necessarily "made to to broken" but certainly they can be amended - as is necessary with so many laws!!!!
I'm not saying that abortions should be "over-the-counter"
but certainly in some cases/situations it the humane thing to do by a certified MD.
And I have to agree with the guy who said "...[ a rapist is not a man]..." Rapists should be tried as "inhumane" !!! I wish the best that medical people can do in the case of this sad story. -Mame-

Their is a abortion pil in the DR .
It is illigal but she buy it in the parmacy . They buy it under the desk .
