Let us hope
that you were in a hurry or otherwise occupied when you made your post as the english that you demonstrated was simply awful. If this was an accurate example of your command of the language, you should honestly consider the damage that you will do to those children if you are their english teacher. In my opinion, it would be wise to refrain from english instruction until you have the opportunity to enhance your own abilities. I am not mentioning this to be hurtful, just honest.

Re: Mullaney School - Exc. resource
Try the Mullaney International School, Costambar, Puerto Plata; Greg Mullaney [a Canadian] or Sheilah Mullaney [a Dominican]. mullaney1@codetel.net.do. Dedicated, professional, experienced educators; only 1 hour from Santiago. I think they can help. Persistence! You can work this out. Buena Suerte!

Re: English teacher needed for info
go to lesson plans.com or go to Yahoo under education and search for some lesson plans. I feel for you I 'm going through the same problem here in the US. But I think you sound more panicked than me. Also in the capital, they have a teacher store called "get Smart" and they sell some teacher asssesories and assignment booklets.
Good luck and teach those kids the best you can. You can make a difference to our country!

Re: English teacher needed for info
Hi, Catherine. I've never taught in a classroom, but I do teach English privately and have for a couple of years. You do sound a little upset, and the most important thing is for you to keep cool and calm. REMEMBER that you are the teacher and that you know more English than they do. That is important. If it scares you too much or you feel you shouldn't do it then, very simply, don't do it. Otherwise a reccomendation is to look at any foreign language classes that you have taken and think of what helped you learn that language. You might try reading a well written book, in English, before you teach. This should help switch your mindset from Spanish to English.

Re: English teacher needed for info
For those who have helped me thanks. For those who have told me to check my English and are concerned about the kids. FYI I was not at my home computer and found some seconds to put my message on the board so if there were errors EXCUSE ME! MORE FYI. I have never taught in spanish and I was born and raised in the Bronx so my English is quite ok, thank you very much for your concern. I'm not teaching the kids English, I'm teaching social studies, math, language, science etc in English. I don't mean to sound sarcastic, but what I wanted help with was planning out the material of each subject for the year ( since I had only taught summer school previosly in NY). That is where I'm lacking the experience and needed help in and here are some people worried about how my message looked in this message board. If I needed help with my English I don't think I would have graduated from a very good 4 year college. This message is especially for
doug and keith. To everyone else I sincerely appreciate your posts. Thanks

Re: English teacher needed for info
Dear teacher: Please do not let anyone tell you otherwise. You are a prepared person, hard worker and have studies hard all these years. They are mean, awfull people out there to try and convince differently. Try to know your surrounding first, and then plann ahead. Wish you the very best of luck. Always..Looking for Advice, Ms. Jar.
