Default TO SHANNON RE: Las Galeras Village !

Hi Shannon! Yes, Andy was right when he said if that's what you are looking for in DR, then Las Galeras is the place. Our current home is in NW panhandle of Florida; Andy has lived there for 15 years. We spent this past June and July in Las Galeras - could have gone elsewhere, but it was the perfect spot, as you described that you are looking for, but we stayed. In fact, we love it so much that we're making plans to spend this winter there - December - March (rent a small house). After that, we plan to sell our home here and take up residency (probably build a small house) in Las Galeras. Do we love Las Galeras (and all of DR!) - er wut!?!?! Feel free to e-mail us.

P.S. Here's the website for Las Galeras:

http://samana.net/lg-guide1.htm (enter it precisely correct!)

And if you do decide to go to Las Galeras, do yourself a huge favor: go to Andy-and-Nicole's restarant "El Marinique" on the beach. There is the best food and the best cook!!! It's a teeny, tiny walk off the Main Street. -Mame-

Hi. Thanks, I saw the page after Nicole recommended it. There are some fabulous photos there by Paul Grierly (whom recommended THIS site to me, BTW - Thanks, Paul.)

So far Las Galeras really sounds good. Did you two have any trouble finding a place to rent when you got there? Do you have any recommendations? Feel free to email me any details you'd rather not post; we'd love to hear from you.

Do I understand you right??? are you and Ed in the panhandle at this time. My inlaws live in Panama City beach. I am going for a visit this week end. Would love to meet you and Ed. I was in Las Galeras Aug,7 but Andy and Nicole had gone to Samana for the day and I was unable to meet them. We too are planning our retirement to the DR in about three years....... Matt

Hi Jack! That's probably true for most people; however, you know that ole saying, "to each his own." At our age, watching the grass grow is about our speed !! LOL!! Wait till you get this old !! then let us know what you "like to do" !! This is so funny to us, because one poster doesn't know the age of another poster - they say it's not important in any way - but it is (I've been trying to tell people!). Would I make any sense to say WHAT INTERESTS YOUNG PEOPLE DOES NOT INTEREST OLD PEOPLE - and vice versa. Yoo hoo! Are there only young people in this world? Whoa!! Hello ????? -Mame- !!!!!!

Default You are young at heart!

No matter your age, it's your attitude. Watching grass grow in the Dominican Republic is an adventurous undertaking. I'd say you're in your 30's with experience - and always will be. Good luck with your move.
