Default Found in anoither Forum Board...

Quote:
-->" I've just come back to the board after being sucked into the television and trying to find my friends in NYC. Yes, what has happened is horrible BUT we American's tend to think we are immune to the difficulties that exist in the rest of the world. I'm sorry we had to be awakened in this manner - deeply sorry BUT we can never assume that there isn't a REASON that everyone hates us beyond the normal jealousy of our prosperity. We have manipulated many many governments and situations and our hand is always in every conflict with a tilt towards our own interests.

I LOVE democracy. I think it is the best, most prosperous and spiritually sound way of life that we know. Too often though our political leaders use that phrase to cover up their own greed or self-interest. They rarely think about what will happen to future generations because of thier acts.

I'm devastated by what has happened to my beloved New York, BUT I am equally devastated that the pilots of those planes felt as though they had reason to hate us enough to commit that act. They deserve a prayer tonight as well - they were someone's son, brother, lover and friend. They too had red blood that has now been spilled and for what. The pilot of the 2nd plane had enough resolve to tilt the plane at the last minute so that it would take out more floors. Such courage and precision utilized for destruction. I can only hope that some day this tremendous energy can be used for creative purposes instead.

Too often here in America we dehumanize our enemies in the pursuit of what we call justice but what is really revenge. We hide our own barbaric natures in slick political terms and media savy propoganda that American's take for truth because we never bother to read anyone else's version. Most of my friends don't even know what's happening in Isreal/Palestine and don't want to - that is pathetic. And now they are very angry because we've been wronged. We have, BUT we have funded some of the most heinous acts in the last several decades. Our hands are not clean because we didn't pull the trigger and that is a harsh truth that I think we must come to terms with. Karma does exist in the Universe and it is discompassionate in my experience. What you give you will get in return, period.

Meanwhile, I know we will hunt these people down like vermin and sooth ourselves with words like "evil" and "inhuman" when in fact they are ordinary people in extrodinary circumstances. To someone else they are hero's. In our pain we will not learn the lesson that violence begets violence.

For myself I know that a brighter future exists and hope that this is part of the path to get there. I pray my children's children will look back at this time and talk about how this was the beginning of the end of violence as a method for conflict resolution. I don't condone what they did in any way and though I loath President Bush I will grudgingly support him in whatever he does because I know that we are not spiritually ready to learn this less yet.

One thing is for sure - we live in interesting times. God help us.

Default What did Ghandi say?

An eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth will leave us blind and toothless.
Dios los pagara. God will pay them back.

I may wind up blind and toothless......but I sure will have a sense of satisfaction. Besides, God is too busy answering our prayers to be bothered with something small like this.....glad to be of service!

Better blind and toothless than dead and buried and as a bonus JUSTICE can be very satisfying. Maybe we need to deal with them in the context or their own religion which they do respect...death to the infidels! When every last one is gone then we can practice ours and forgive. (I refer only to the terrorists not the race)

These people love to die. They waited months for the opportunity to do so. The revenge everyone wants will be doing them a favour. They think that they will go straight to raghead heaven.

You are dealing with a different mentality.

I beleive we are all aware of that. But not every Islamic is of that mind set. We must rid the world of those that want to kill and die for glory. They can go to their ragtime heaven the sooner the better BUT BEFORE THEY take innocents with them will be better for all.

Default BIG DIFFERENCE

Ghandi was fighting against a foe who was ultimately civilized and not attempting to wipe out his people, just to control it.

The terrorists have vowed to kill americans for the sake of killing americans...

big difference

Did he say that when he was shot?

As for God paying them back. You can go right ahead and cling to your crutch of ancient mythological dieties. As for me I rather deal in reality.
