Re: Dominican Potato Chips??? I Don't Think So!
Dorothy:
A Tommy Hilfiger shirt I am wearing right now was made in China. All Right so far....but, Tommy Hilfiger, a pure bred American designer, winner of Coty Awards, selected the type of fabric, type of dye and quality of the manufacture. China is not to blame because Tommy colors run when washed. Nautica and Polo colors also run when washed. They will wash wether they are pieced together in the U.S.A, Mexico or Kuala Lampur.
The fact of the matter is that production quality is set by supply and demand. To keep prices of shirts like these in the range of $50 to $60 so that middle class people in the United States can purchase them, a little quality has to give.
Likewise with cars and other mass produced products. For instance, one of Americas best selling cars, the Cavalier is put together in Mexico. Firebirds are put together in a Canadian plant. Thats why people can afford them there. Are you ready to pay $55,000 for a Cadillac made in Detroit?
