Default solar and wind power

Hello all:

I am acting on behalf of a large alternative energy company in the US. We would like to help the D.R. with shifting to renewable energy sources. I understand there are already some projects underway, including a wind farm in the north. Does anyone know of any new hotels, resorts, or developments that might be considering "going solar?" Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank-you,

Michael

Which large alternative energy company are you talking about? I have worked for a number of years in the DR with renewable energy, mostly photovoltaics. Our focus is on rural electrification off the grid.

Well if you really like to help the Dr.
you have to supply your services at cheaper rates then Edenorte.
They continue to fleece the Dominicans.
So direct your efforts not only to large projects.

Default Edenorte

Dominicans are being fleeced by Dominicans that steal power, not by Edenorte. With so many stealing power, those that do actually pay must pay for not only their power, but all of the power that is stolen, also. When so many steal power, the rest carry the burden.

If there is wind power on the island, it would be fed into the same distribution system, sold by Edenorte, and stolen by Dominicans hooking up illegally.

Tom F has the right idea about rural grids powered through alternative energy sources. It is probably the best way to get power to rural areas and likely has the best chance of getting around the distribution laws in the country.

There are probably more than 10,000 small solar systems provoding a small amount of electricity to rural homes and some small businesses. This has been in the making for the last 16 or so years and has developed into a fairly extensive wholesale and retail network. There may be a market for someone to roam the North Coast from Monti Cristi to Samana providing high quality service with the ability to custom design systems based on specific needs. Unfortunately, there are not enough people willing to pay the up front cost to install a US$2,000-$20,000 system where you can make enough money. The Dominican farmer can pretty much already get a system at a reasonable cost.

ofcourse you are right .
What I object to is you saying as if it was normal those who do pay must pay for those that don't, this is not acceptable.
in normal countries this would not be allowed.
I should not be penalized for their inability to collect
these are mafia methods.Pay up or we cut you of.
Codetel falls in the same mafia group.
pay up or cut eventhough they are all wrong on their bill.

A house I see on the beach just after Cabarete
has a propeller on the roof.
How much electricity does this provide.??
Can I attach this to my invertor.?
how much would this cost.??
there is always enough wind here.

I love how they will cut you off even if you have paid your bill, then try and charge you for a reconnect. That one takes the cake!

The reality is that they have to charge for the power they buy from the pool/generators. Whether it is stolen or paid for, Edenorte has to pay their bills.

Hopefully with more people ****ed off about paying for the neighbors who steal power, we will convince our neighbors that it has to change

Hi Tom. These systems that you are describing...are the homes wired for 12 Volt supply, or are you running an invertor system?
