Default drugs in DR

I've read about drug trafficing from DR. I live in a Dominican neighborhood in New York, so I know what's up here. But when I read about Boca Chica and the "Nightlife" (women etc.) drugs don't seem to be mentioned. I know in St. Lucia it's becoming a serious problem. Is crack attacking the DR? Is nightlife different in Boca Chica than in other drug infested parts of tghe world? Just curious.

No! I'm wondering how safe Boca Chica is at night. Poverty is one thing, but drugs (crack) tear things apart. It it a problem there?

Default In 31 years living here...

(oh crap!, did I just confess my age?) I have never seen illegal drugs. I guess it is not so common, but then again I never looked hard enough. I hope the case is not the later.

Well, I am here to tell you that the drug culture is alive and well in the DR. Why do you think they have a special police force to deal with drugs? And just like in the USA, they are far from having it under control.

Drugs are not as out in the open in the DR as in other countries, but Crack and any other hard core drugs is sold in the DR, mostly in the poor, rough neighborhoods such as Capotillo, Los Guandules, etc. Of course most of the clients are from the well to do areas such as Arroyo Hondo, etc. The cops are also in the business big time. Mostly the DR is used as a bridge for large scale shipments from Colombia, but it is happening more and more that some of the drug stays in the country. It is definitely starting to be a problem in the DR also.

I remember back in the 80's when the DR police made a huge Cocaine bust. The next day they made a big show for the media with the burning of the contraband. 2 days after that the Amout of Blow available was incredible. And the price fell through the floor.

God I miss the 80's!!!!
