This Jefecito is the King of the Boonies, take a look at it Kankakee, a cornfield given a name, Hardin County by the Ohio, the True Boonie state, you drive by it and never notice it. Cincinnati is the only decent place. Then the guy choses Cabo Rojo the farthest away from Dominican civilization. Gentlemen, we are talking here about the new Pilgrims. These guys are the settlers of virgin lands.

Kinda figured you would start in since I have something good to say about the DR and women. the way you speak of both I find it hard to believe that you like either.

Hey, I'm a Southern Illinois hillbilly and proud of it. Ialso am proud of having spent my youth in Sto. Domingo and yes, Cabo Rojo. It was a time of history making and a kid could not have gotten a better education on the human tragedy. At the same time being able to enjoy the beauty of the country. I'm sorry you seem to have to suffer so much and keep living in a place you obviously dislike.

End of flame, don't have time to waste on negativity or negative folks.

I think there may be an "insult" hidden in there somewhere, but I can,t find it! Never knew it to be a "fault" to want to live in the "campo" Criss

Well, actually the house where I grew-up has become somewhat of a local attraction! Local,s drive by and muse: "so this is the house where the guy that "TW" wants to be like when he grows-up lived? Criss was just "one-of-us" why does this "TW" envy him so much???"Just thought you,d like to know! Criss

I love a dominican woman, yes, ONE woman and I want to move to Santo Domingo to share my life with her! But, I am feeling more and more confused now... Everybody writes about how expensive DR is (as expensive as Miami, someone said; $30.000 is like an ants **** in the ocean, someone else suggested), I read that "decent" or "classy" dominicans avoid expats (so I can forget about making friends!?), there is no wildlife (not much of that here in Saudi-Arabia either...), the place is noisy (where? I have been to DR 3 times now and it was peaceful!) and so on... I come from Sweden. I have visited 26 countries (on business and as a traveller) by now and met bad people and good people everywhere. I have worked in the Middle East since 1996, with colleagues from from all over the world. I have friends on 4 continents who keep inviting me to stay with them. But when I read the messages on this board, I often get the impression that DR is a hellhole, best avoided!? And those who claim the opposite are quickly labelled as romantic fools. So perhaps I should stay in Riyadh....
