Default My first shooting...

Well, after almost a year and a half in Santo Domingo, I finally got to see some idiot shoot another idiot (of course, I am assuming thier mental status, but who else would be involved in such activity?) on the Malecon on Saturday night. Makes me really really happy to be from a country (Canada) with a sensible view on gun control...

uhmm, you almost sound like you were happy to witness that tragedy. Talk about sensibility and the issue of gun control, and I said this because of your quote "I finally saw an idiot shoot another......"

I can't believe you! I think the only idiot here, is MrBean from Canada. If you don't like DR - then STAY HOME! Nobody forced you to go there! How dare you bad mouth others at a time like this.

Gee Maria and Roberto. Do you think it is intelligent to shoot people on the street? I would call the SOB who did it much more than an idiot.

You must both be Dominicans if you think it is noble to do so and spring to the defense of the stupid, illiterate idiot who did the shooting.

first of all Al Coholic....you are to be questioned about the humour of being a alcoholic. Second , do you know the circumstances that took place with the shooting?
MrBean....since when were there no shootings in Canada. I know of many IDIOTS there who have guns and shoot them. Take it easy ....at this time ...we are very sensitive about what has recently happened.
think ...both of you ....before you comment

Alcoholic, with a user name like that - I shouldn't even bother responsing. FYI - the amount of annual shootings here in the USA compared to the amount of shootings in DR is 478% higher! An for the record, no I am not a Dominican.

the point of opposition here is mr. bean's insensitivity--the poor timing of his self-righteous commentary. A horrible tragedy has just occurred! get off your high horse and find some humanity. Maria del Pilar is right --you don't like it, leave.

are there any Canadian cities that come close to Santo Domingo's population density and disproportionate distribution of wealth ? (being at work I dont have the time to do the research...) what are the gun related homicide statistics in that neighborhood? it's pretty easy to be judgmental when you have confidence in your nation's judicial, education, and public health systems (to name a few)...it obviously leaves you feeling empowered and safe to voice your criticisms whether or not your are in your country. how many Dominicans have you heard blowing their mouths off at the reliability of the current political administration? you ever wonder why the numbers are so few? how often in your year and a half in Santo Domingo have you seen a branch of the Dominican government rise up to the defense of ONE of it's people? if the law was at all reliable-- far less people would take it into their own hands. Don't be a jerk.

Can't we just all get along? Ashooting happened. Someone died. This morning 255+ died. Do we really need to argue?

Default how awful

I've never seen a shooting or a plane crash. I hope I never do. I do know how devastated I felt when a family friend's wife died in a plane crash many years ago.
Thanks for reminding me of how precious even one life is. How quickly 1 or 255+ or 5000+ can be snuffed out. And how tricky it is to convey feelings. And how helpless you feel when you haven't got the power to change anything.

Hi Jefe

I was about to post the same kind of comment when you beat me to it.
