Default I wish I were home

I moved to California several months ago and I can't tell you all how much I regret it. I'm going to grad school and I need to stay here for a year and a half. But if it were up to me, I would be back East where I belong. I think that this place is beautiful and the people are warm. But how can they compare with my Quisqueyanos? I have no one to mourn with or organize a vigil with. I'm sitting desperately by my computer and my phone to get snipets of news, but it isn't enough.

Since September 11, I wake up every morning and pray "Please God. Don't let anything bad happen today." How ironic that this hit in my very home.

God bless everyone who is gone. My prayers and thoughts are with everyone that lost family and close friends.

Default I wish I were home TOO!

Jackie, I hear you and i feel you too. I have been VERY homesick since i got here and it just got worse. I also can not get enough info on what happened. It is terrible and i want to talk to someone about it, but there is no one here that understands this like we do.

Hello.
I felt a bit of relief when I read your postings. I grew up in New York. As a Dominican-American I've been blessed having grown up with the best of both worlds. Even though I've been away for a long time I understand & feel what the Dominican community (and the rest of the world) is feeling right now .
This tragedy has hit so close to home & I know no one who can relate to me.
I work for a major airline and yesterday was a very strenuous day for me. I wanted to cry while seated at my desk, but I had a job to do. I tried hard to hold back the tears.
My deepest sympathy goes out to my fellow Dominicans, my aviation colleagues and all those affected by this tragedy.

I have a suggestion for the lonely people. In every town and city in the USA there is available crisis hotlines numbers for people who need someone to talk to. Do yourself a favor and look in your local phone books and find these community help centers. It will help to heal you to talk. They will talk for as long as you need and look for other contacts to comfort you. Vaya Con Dios
