Default Sunscape.....Punta Cana

Hello all,

Can someone help me out on this resort???? I will be traveling there in March and have read some good and bad reviews...mostly bad! Any insight would be great! Are there lots of kids or couples, or a healthy mix of both?

Also, what is the lowdown on the nightlife. I hear there is no town, but are there bars that are not part of a resort? I would love to get out and mingle and party with the locals! If anyone knows of independant bars close to Sunscape....lemme know )

I have read about Captain Cooks seafood restaurant....any insight on this place? Overpriced...or good food at a good price?

Thanks so much for your help!

Went there when it was MAC Bavaro. Great place - but mostly family and couples there. I heard there are many improvements since it was taken over by Apple Vacations. Great service and many speak English there. Not much for nightlife there. We were taken to a "disco" there by some of the staff and it was a outdoor bar with a small wooden dance floor. Plan on going back early next year. Hope this helps. P.S. I still keep in touch with the restaurant manager there!

i was there this weekend. the hotel is a brithish colonial style. nice, but not very inviting as other caribbean style resorts. food and drinks are great in comparison to others resorts. the beach is ok, but 300mts to the left in front of Natura park, you will find the best beach in punta cana.
there is not much nightlife out there. the hotel has a disco and sport bar for the guests. nice, if you are into american college style dance club, forget it if you are into european high energy techno dance.
for what are you looking for, the place to be, are the resorts close to bavaro plaza. (Occidental flamenco, fiesta resorts, hodelpa or bavaro princes)

Hi Theresa:

You said you're still in touch with the manager. DO you have their website and/or phone number with contact name? I haven't factored Punta Cana into my trip yet, but I'll definitely like to see it for a day or 2.

Thanks,
John

John, Try rgahr@sunscape.com.do that is the web sight directly to Rod Gahr, general manager. Also Debbies Dominican Republic Resort Reviews web sight is excellent. It reviews most of the resorts in the D.R. Theresa
