Default Sosua Kids School Fund

When sitting at Brittania the other day watching the universe pivot around Sosua, I was pleased to learn that there are now 32 children in the Sosua area attending school by virtue of the donations of generous contributors. "El Presidente" from Indianapolis did a great job on Thanksgiving Day twisting arms to match his 500 peso contribution which was made with little thought and many Presidentes. Its getting to be that time of the year again when us regular travelers start getting down there. Stop by Brittania in Sosua and make a donation of whatever you can afford. Thanks Richard for your generousity. Mary Kohn, I heard about you. You're a sweetheart.

Default question

What you are doing is admirable and I ask this only out of curiosity: What is the situation in Sosua where the kids are not able to attend school as it is ostensibly free and compulsory...or is this money for a scholarship to a private school? Just wondering. Forgive me for not getting up to the North Coast all that much, it's just there are so much more tourist activities in beautiful San Pedro.

Seriously, kudos to you.

The money buys each child the uniform, shoes, back pack, etc. All the things that the family can not afford. This is to go to regular school NOT private. A worthy cause. To commit to sending these children each year until they graduate.

Default Re: question

You will have to ask Richard for info but the money pays for Uniforms and books I believe. I am not really sure but when asked I gave. There is a Yahoo Sosua club you can check out or maybe Richard will answer you here.

I give to anyone that asks always. I don't support my childs school with donations because it cost me 9000 a year for 5th grade and I dont see the need to donate to rich peoples kids but I give to anyone else that asks for a good cause.

Regards,
Scott
