my family in DR used to serve me presidentes at lunch, and wine at dinner when i was like 12 years old. my father used to say "pa que beba en la calle con los tigueres, que beba conmigo"
( translated "i'd rather have my kid drink with me, than drink in the street with the tigers") i think the "legal" age is 18, but the drinking laws in DR are "flexible". there is no flexibility when it comes to ilegal drugs, and you can get a ridiculous LOOOONNNNNNGGG sentence for a little joint of marijuana. my advise is drink and be happy, but stay away from drugs in DR. if you are drinking outdoors and happen to meet some cops, offer them a little alcohol. dont be selfish. lol

Betsy, you are joking aren,t you? As we used to say back in Streator,Illinois,"If you are old enough to "Belly-Up" to the bar,you are old enough to drink! If you have 15 pesos anyone can buy a "Presidente" at every Colmado in the country!Criss.....get drunk, and then go for a drive!

When I was there in El vesuvio en El Malecon, I order Pina Colada for my twelve and nine years old a bit weaker than those for adults and was served. In DR the parents have the control to the drinking age more than the laws.

Popular bars in tourist areas and in Santo Domingo selectively enforce the drinking age of 18. Many have been shut down in the past for allowing minors to enter. Beyond that, what drinking law?

Maria,
you could have ordered virgin pina coladas. You know that liqour kills the brain cells, those cells will never reproduce.

Default death of brain cells, darwinism

Postulates:
Alcohol kills brain cells
The strongest brain cells die last
Weaker brain cells die first
Theorem:
After drinking much alcohol one is left with only the strongest brain cells, thus a leander meaner brain.

Loren,
you can drink your self into a stupor... or until you become an intellect, just don't feed it to the teens and pree teens. Not that most alcoholics will ever agree with me. Hell as long as they are not my kids...sorry I care for all kids.

Default Busybody!!!!!!!

Why don't you mind your own business? Jeez I am so tired of people like you who have some deep seated need to tell others how to live.
