Default Only one week left be4 my intercon flight!

If anybody has a Dominican recipy for a ”common” cold, I would appreciate the advice very much! Atchoooo! Good grief… Come to think of it, ANY recipe will do!

One week from now, I will have coffee on the Corniche in Jeddah, looking out to the Red Sea and the setting sun, as I wait for my night flight to Paris and then on to Santo Domingo…

I am already trying to sort all the advice I have collected from this board (I even learned how to spell advice!), trying to do my home work, to know what to look for, what to ask, what to investigate, when I arrive in the Dominican Republic. I have been there three times before, but all the same…

Hopefully, things will clear a little when I am there, but at this moment I feel a bit bewildered by the daunting challenge of, possibly, eventually, moving or rather ”emigrating” there…

Some of you I hope to meet or at least talk to on the phone!

Well, there it is…

Default Dominican medicine for the common cold.

According to popular belief Brugal is the Domincan cure-all medicine! Good for the common cold as well as many other maladies. Just don't mix it with bananas or you'll get a killer hangover (obviously the hangover comes from the ingestion of alcohol, but drunken people always look for something else to blame for it).

Default Re: Dominican medicine for the common cold.

It is the Dominican cure-all and can work even better if you take a few gulps of Brugal extra viejo then gargle and swallow then sip some Anise liquor, works great everytime!

I hear a couple of drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide in each ear every 4 hours until it doesn't bubble any more.
Plus you will have clean ears.

Default Keep your Dominican cold cure to yourself ...

After all, do you want to destroy the place?

At any given time, probably half of all Dominicans claim to have "la Grippe". It is their ultimate excuse to get out of doing whatever it is that one is trying to get them to do.

One regular contributor to this board claims to be a chiropractor specialising in back problems and to support himself here by that means. If he also treated people with "la grippe" he'd really have job security.

Default Take three aspirins and go to bed...

Sorry John, there is no gold cure.. But once you are here you can take two fingers of rum, 1 teaspoon of honey or sugar, add about 3 ounces (75 ml) of hot water, drink, and go to bed.

Get well!
