DR recommendations

Going to DR on the 29th through the 7th. Trying to keep it minimal. Any recommendations as to places to stay, and what to do?

Sosua is good, really minimal would be out towards Samana in las Galeras, really laid back==no puns intended,,,

What part of the Island are you going to? Where are you flying into and how do you expect to get around? Just so we know what to base our suggestions on!

Flying into SDQ, no transportation locked down, foot, bus, cab most likely. Not trying to stay settled, try to get out and see things. Not really a tour, just free exploring. But safe of course. Not going around blindly.
