Default Did I just screw up?

I just took a big package to UPS and paid them to deliver it to Santiago (25 pounds, $431 value: shipping cost $144 just in case anyone's keeping score). They asked me if it was for a relative and I said 'no' which is the truth. Does this mean it will not enjoy the holiday 'duty free' status it might have had if I had said it was going to a relative? Or do I not understand the duty free regulations and missed the point completely? I only recently became acquainted with the DR itself, with this board and with some of the seemingly ever-changing customs regulations. I'm sure this is all in the archives somewhere but I'm too pooped to look. The holidays can be super-stress time, no? Any help would be appreciated.

ps. having survived a layoff here on the job yesterday, looks like all systems go for a return to the island in March. Can't wait.

Default If you put the address on right!!

UPS should be able to take it to her door. You did not mess up, since I am sure there were clothes and such in that box...If it was electronic stuff there might be a hassle...
If you got problems, send me an e-mail..

My Man: If you are coming to Santo Domingo from St. Louis you did not screw up, you are lucky. What you should really do next time with your job is instead of fighting to keep it, work out a parachute deal and leave St. Louis for good. Come live here before you drown in the next flood that hits the Arch City. With a nice parachute package you can live like a king in DR. Plus, who needs artic air in this day and age?
