Default No brains - kids with toy guns play at airport

Yesterday, while waiting at the ticket counter in Las Americas International Airport, one very well dressed Dominican couple was allowing their kids to run around shooting toy pistols (that looked quite real) while waiting in line. What are these people thinking! Who would even consider taking such an item to an airport, let alone have them anywhere but secured in their checked luggage.

My checked luggage (not my carry-on) was hand searched before it was excepted for check-in. That's the first time that I've heard of that.

I was at a ball game in PP and had a couple of kids run up to me pointing these real looking guns at me also. Scared the sh*t out of me, these kids were about 12 years old.

Can't even imaging parents letting them do this at a ball park to total strangers, let alone at an airport!

Default Get a grip!

Are we suppose to stop kids from playing because you might be scared of a toy gun? Kids have been playing with toy guns since before either of us were born. So are we to stop them because you might feel unconfortable about it? Please macho up dude!

Tony C., playing with toy guns at an airport is dumb. With all the hype about terrorism and flying these days it is a wonder the kids weren't tackled to the ground by security people. This incident happened in Santo Domingo. If it had happened in the U.S., the kids and their parents most likely would have had a lot of explaining to do to the authorities.

Tgf is right, can you imagine the indiscretion, stupidity and poor sensitivity of a parent doing that?

Default Tony!

I can't believe you or anyone would have such an opinion! With what has happened in the last 3 or 4 months, you would have to be living in a cave to be unaware of what is going on right now with the increased security at ALL airports. To have the parents let children play with "toy guns" at a airport is totally innapropiate and stupid. Even to let your children play with guns at a airport before the Sept. 11 event would be foolish, but to let them do it afterwards is .........can't even find a word to suggest how stupid that is!! Tony...."YOU" get a grip!!!
