Default Taino Dogs?

Can anyone tell me if the pre Columbium Taino Indians had dogs? I was surprised to see in a museum that exhibited a typical Taino setting, a few dogs in the corner. I always thought that the Spanish settlers introduced dogs here.

Default Wrong!!

According to the accounts of the time, there were dogs before the Spaniards arrived, those were small dogs that couldn't bark. I can't recall much about it, but that always stuck to me. There are not descendants of those dogs. I would pressume that they are extinct.
