A ride from the airport

In November my family of 6 is traveling to DR. Arriving at airport near to Puerto Plata area.We are not renting a car since very expensive and hazardous to drive (at least that is what I have been told). We will be going to Villas en Costumbar which is outside of Puerto Plata. When we arrive at the airport is it easy to "hail a taxi?" We don't speak Spanish too good so is that a hardship? We were just in Puerto Rico and found it difficult to get around since many residents did not speak English.

I need advice as to the best way to secure a trip to our timeshare resort. We will need a ride back to the airport as well but hopefully after a week we will know how to get around and will not find it difficult.

Do drivers ever hold up signs at the airport advertising that they are a driving service? I also need to know how to negotiate a fare and what is the cost I should expect to pay.

The taxi union posts its rates on a board. If you hire an airport taxi they will give you the posted rate.

You'll have no problem getting a taxi. Trust me, they will find you when you come out of customs. While rates may be posted, they aren't adherred too. Also, they will try to add on for luggage. I would guess the rate you should pay should be around 150 to 200 pesos for the entire cab to your destination if it's inside the city of Puerto Plata..
