Default Re: Please recommend a good rum

For white rum I prefer Bermudez, for the dark rum I prefer Brugal. Too much Brugal or Barcelo gives me a headache. Too much Bermudez gives me a good nights sleep and a faint morning fog. The new fancy bottled Bermudez with added flavours like lemon I found to be hard to take. The Bermudez blanco or crystal are great. Find your favorite and enjoy.

Default Yo! KARINA! It ain't over 'til the Hillbilly

Hiccups!! LOL!

1) the actual score for the Batceló Imperial was 97, not 96...It was rated the highest in the world.
2) you can see for yourself at: www.tasters.com (dang, I hope I got that right!)
3) Imperial gan be bought at most larger grocery stores and bodegas for around RD$110 (+/- RD$5.00)
4) Brugal Añejo ("La mallita" -the mesh) has a strong following because of its flavor, which stands up in a rum and Coke or Daiquirí quite well.

Bermúdez used to be the leading Dominican rum for many years until Brugal and Barceló did better advertizing and made a consistant product.

You can obtain any of the rums at most supermarkets-Messon,or Italiano in POP, don't know much about Sosua.
5) Enjoy a variety of good rums, don't be a slave to the 'name'

Default Hillbilly...too funny!!! What is the name of the

street the Messon or Italiano supermarkets are on? They are supermarkets arn't they? I love to shop in the local supermarkets and hardware and department stores! I'll be looking for a good garlic press and a couple of dishes, not to mention some soup mixes, beans, etc. Any suggestions on other stores in PPlata would be welcome. Not interested in the big fancy jewelry stores. Thanks so much on the rum info...hubby will just sample them all!!
