Last time I was there Jan 2000 it was like running the gautlet with the baggage porters. This time Dec 2000 was a breeze didn't even have to tell anyone NO GRACIAS. Was very surprised anybody know why the refreshing change

Modernization, we hope was the cause. We hope it will continue to improve and not go back to the way it was "the guantlet".

The airports were privatized, and the new management, associated to the company that runs airports in Vancouver reduced the number of porters from 1,400 to 300.

I hope not, what a pain in the ... they are.

Plus they had carts that you can use for free!!! Free carts makes one need a porter less. Supply and demand.
