Fun Bar in Purto Plata

When we get bored with Riu Merengue and I am sure we will, what bar or club in Purto Plata is going offer good clean fun for a small group of not so ugly American guys?

If you don't mind being in a tourist area, you should try out Hemmingways (in the Playa Dorada). If i'm not mistaken they have Karaoke on Mondays and Thursdays, and those are usually the best nights to go. It can get pretty packed in there, so if you want to sit down, try and get there early.

If you go right into Pto Pta go to the Malecon, towards the end. THere is a bar called Aguaceros. There are few ex-pat type of places, they can be Ok if you are into that scene. Anyway the malecon is fun. In the messages before someone lists a few places but they are all discos. Again if you are into it, they are great but if not... Hemmingways is very expensive, but can be fun. Beer and Rum are much more affordable in town. Have fun!
