Some of you guys keep thinking that JetBlue is Aeromar or Dominicana de Aviacion or any of the other two bit airlines.
JetBlue is a solid company and one of only two airlines, Southwest being the other, that has remained profitable post 9/11.
The company has a model that it works with and that model works. DR is the first and only international destination that JetBlue flys to. This being the case, I'm sure they didn't just toss a dart at a map and choose this as a destination. I'm sure, being based in JFK, they did their homework and saw the pospects of profitabilty for this route and went ahead.
This airline has done nothing without much calculation and thought, which is why they have become a dominant force in the New York market in such a short time.
Although I am flying down on Delta and have only flown JetBlue once to Florida, I would not discount their success in NY or their reasoning behind choosing this as their first and only international destination.
