Has this been confirmed?
When was this confirmed? Last I read about the potential metro system was in el Caribe, January 12, 2005 and there was speculation about building the metro but a decision was not reached. My opinion is that a metro would not resolve the city's transportation problem if the infrastructure is weak. Based on past history of unfinished projects and poor planning will this metro be added to the list? Outside of the political objectives, how much will this metro cost, who is going to build it, how extensive is it going to me, what other transportation systems i.e. buses will be linked to it and who will be paying for it in the long run (actually this question I can answer myself). I hope this does not come to pass because although the objective would be to resolve a current chaotic transportation system (if you could call it that) it would only add to the numerous financial burdens that ultimately affect the population. The DR governments past and present need to stop putting the cart before the horse.... infrastructure, proper planning, cost estimates, electricity, a linked transportation system should be top consideration and priority. I say this will be a complete fracaso por falta de visión.
