Instead of air, wouldn't an other type of gaz be better? Some gasses seem to be easier to compress into liquid state... airconditioners do that all day long?

My dear friend J D Sauser,

Freon is the gas used for air cond, fridges etc. These appliances recycle freon
and thru a heat exchanger provide cooling.

When an air motor is coupled to a generator, the compressed air is consumed
by the air motor to spin the generator. Therefore, compressed air is lost not
recycled.

Another gas under investigation is Hydrogen. We all know about electrolysis.
When DC power is fed to 2 electrodes dipped in water, hydrogen bubbles
appear on the positive(+) side. Hydrogen is vaccumed, filtered and stored
in a series of pressurized vessels. This type of fuel has almost the same
properties as propane or natural gas. It can be used to power a natural gas
generator, fuel cars or cook meals. Typically, it takes $100 of electricity to
produce $50 worth of Hydrogen. So far it sounds insane. If the electricity
comes from renewable sources(wind, solar), it begins to make sence! The
equipment (Hydrogen generator, purifier, storage vessel etc) are not "off
the shelf " items. They are very expensive.

Hydrogen is the fuel of the future...not any time soon anyway.
Georgios.
