In a lot of other countries they will use any chance to do so and espessially if a woman is there without a man - they will think she is out there to meet them all. Women who travel by themselves don't have a good reputation in touristy places such as DR. I understand why it is so difficult to meet a decent Dominican man while on vacation because all the "sankies" will surround resorts and beaches just like anywhere else.
