Another bit of advice would be if you have any Dominican friends you may want to get them involved in the process. As a foreigner you will get quoted a price double of what they are really asking...
In other words if you see a lot that you like, before you go ask yourself how much they are asking, you have your Dominican friend call and find out how much it is and then you will know the real price. If they see you first then they will think "Carne Fresca"...Fresh meat...
